Tampa Founder Edward Reyes Takes Med Legal Safe Keep Nationwide With Emergency Records App

A Tampa-based startup is aiming to simplify how families prepare for medical emergencies with a new mobile platform that brings essential health, legal, and personal records into one secure system.

Founded by longtime healthcare operator Edward Reyes, Med Legal Safe Keep officially launched its app in early February, making it available to families nationwide.

The platform is designed to help users store and manage medical histories, insurance information, legal documents, and emergency contacts in one encrypted location. Families can set customized sharing permissions, create emergency access profiles, and use QR-based tools that allow trusted caregivers or first responders to retrieve critical information when needed.

“In emergencies, minutes matter, but families are often left scrambling for information spread across systems that don’t talk to each other,” Reyes said. “We built Med Legal Safe Keep so families, caregivers, and first responders can access the right information immediately, without confusion, stress, or unnecessary delays.”

Built for Everyday Preparedness

Unlike traditional patient portals or document storage platforms that are often tied to specific providers, Med Legal Safe Keep is designed to function independently across healthcare systems and life stages.

The app supports parents managing children’s records, adults organizing their own information, and families assisting aging relatives. Users can maintain their profiles over time, updating documents and access permissions as needs change.

The company says the platform was built to be intuitive for users of all ages, while maintaining strict privacy and security standards.

“Our goal was to make something that people would actually use,”
Reyes said. “If it’s too complicated, families won’t rely on it in urgent moments.”

Early Adoption in Florida

Since its initial rollout, Med Legal Safe Keep has already begun gaining traction among families across Florida.

During early adoption, users have uploaded key documents, created multiple emergency access profiles, and added trusted caregivers and family members to their accounts. The company says this early engagement reflects growing demand for tools that simplify preparedness and coordination during medical or legal emergencies.

The platform’s emergency access features are designed to allow families to share essential information quickly, while still maintaining control over who can view sensitive records.

Privacy and Security at the Core

With medical and legal data at stake, security has been a central focus in the platform’s development.

Med Legal Safe Keep uses encrypted document storage and customizable access controls, allowing users to determine who can view their information and under what circumstances. Emergency access tools are designed to balance speed with privacy protections.

“We knew trust would be everything,”
Reyes said. “Families won’t use this unless they’re confident their information is protected.”

Growth Plans and Long-Term Vision

While the company is rooted in Tampa, Med Legal Safe Keep is now available nationwide. Reyes plans to grow the platform through partnerships with healthcare providers, caregiving organizations, and legal-adjacent groups.

Long term, he envisions the app becoming a standard digital companion for families, similar to financial planning tools, but focused on health, preparedness, and accessibility.

As healthcare systems grow more complex and families increasingly manage care across multiple providers, Reyes believes centralized tools like Med Legal Safe Keep will become essential.

“Healthcare is only getting more complicated,”
he said. “Families deserve something that makes it simpler, not harder.”
