Since 1959, Clearwater and Nagano, Japan, have maintained a robust Sister Cities relationship, fostering cultural exchanges and friendships. One such integral aspect of this partnership has been the enduring high school student exchanges, a tradition that has spanned over three decades.

Recently, a delegation of Japanese high school students from Nagano had the opportunity to spend an enriching week in Clearwater. During their stay, these students immersed themselves in the local community by residing with welcoming homestay families. They were actively involved in various activities, including joining in the vibrant Halloween celebrations, attending classes at Countryside High School, and exploring the wonders of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Their cultural odyssey culminated in a heartwarming Sayonara Party at Moccasin Lake Nature Park, marking the end of a memorable week.

For the upcoming 2024 exchange, Clearwater offers an exciting opportunity for students who are residents of the city. Four scholarships are available for those interested in visiting Nagano. The chance to experience this transformative exchange awaits, offering a gateway to cultural understanding and lifelong connections.
