The city of Clearwater’s solid waste team recently showcased their talents at the international ROAD-E-O competition organized by the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA). Held in Denver, Colorado, this competition brought together skilled workers from government and private waste collection sectors to demonstrate their driving expertise.

Among the exceptional performances, Clearwater Solid Waste Equipment Operator Joe Marshall notably secured third place in the tractor-trailer category, a remarkable achievement that highlights his proficiency and skill in this competitive field.

Further recognition is extended to the dedicated team members, Darius Bryant, John Garakop, Rick Palmer, Arnie Retzer, and Javan Thomas, from Clearwater Solid Waste and Recycling, who participated at the international level. Their representation of the city of Clearwater reflected the team’s commitment to excellence and professionalism.

The competition provided an important platform for professional solid waste drivers to exhibit their large-truck-driving skills, pitting them against some of the finest drivers, operators, and mechanics in the industry.
